my benetton supports young talents

Benetton – Bulgaria has challenged young Bulgarian talents. Students in Fashion from the National Academy of Art (II, III, IV course bachelors and I course master degree) under the direction of prof. Gredi Assa, took part in a competition called My Benetton. The young designers had the chance to create a real product and its entire image including an original presentation to the public. Along with the impetus to make students realizing their creative decisions, the competition tried to combine the creative and the commercial part of the product, which has to be sold.

The students have worked for a month with Benetton clothes under the direction of Iva Shatz, lecturer with the National Academy of Art.

In a special fashion event, the 42 participants presented their works, based on the topic. Among the members of the jury were Iliyana Alipieva, president of Delta Handel, official representative of Benetton to Bulgaria, prof. Gredi Assa, head of Fashion Department at the National Academy of Art, Iva Shatz, lecturer with the National Academy of Art, Milena Popova, editor-in-chief of Eva Magazine, Radost Draganova, TV host of Ogledala, Albena Atanasova, fashion editor in Standart daily, Assen Assenov, publisher of Edno Magazine.

Among the special guests at the event were representatives of Benetton Group, Italy, HE Stefano Benazzo, Ambassador of Republic of Italy to Bulgaria and his wife Mrs. Dana Benazzo, Mr. Peraro, director of the Italian Cultural Institute and his wife among others. Poli Genova and the dancers from The Center amused the guests.

 

Natalia Jivkova (I course, master degree) won the first prize for her design, looking like origami. The winner received a gift from Benetton as well as the opportunity to show her work on the shop window of the brand in Sofia. Georgi Stoilov (II course, bachelor) won the second place because of his simple but original design as well as the excellent sense of details. Jeni Kovacheva was ranked third, because of the proximity of her design to the contemporary fashion tendencies. Tatevik Sargessian won the award of the public. There were three encouraging awards. The guests enjoyed the cocktails of Absolut vodka.

Benetton Group is not only a leader on the European fashion market but is also a company, which is engaged with the problems of society. It participates in different world programs with social and charitable purpose. Through the past years Benetton Bulgaria has initiated many campaigns such as breast cancer campaigns, opening of open-air kindergartens, providing clothes for children of dead officials of National Security Service, organizing children’s holiday in occasion of handing the awards from the national competition United Colors of Benetton for drawing, named The colors of Summer, which was under the patronage of the National Parliament. Benetton – Bulgaria also donated clothes to the amount of 50 000 BGN to the people from Elin Pelin who were flooded out. It also organized the Sisley – Utopia and Reality competition for young talents as well as a donation in 2008 for the Bulgarian sports federation for children without parents.
