KALINA BLAJEVA: “THE ART IS AMUSEMENT AND DELIGHT”

Kalina Blajeva was born in Kustendil, but she graduates in Sofia the Secondary School of Fine Arts. Her education continues in the National Academy of Fine Arts where she studies fashion in the class of the designer Mariela Gemisheva. Kalina shares that the Bulgarian fashion world restricts and presses her. Her big dream is to occupy with a complete styling, as with more important and various fashion projects. After that she sees by accident in Internet that the college “Cambridge of Art and Science” in London recruits foreign student, the young and talented designer decides to try and to accept this challenge. For Kalina London is a European centre of the style, of the luxury and of the fashion.

From the college “Cambridge of Art and Science” they approve the project and the documents of Kalina Blajeva and there she starts her education from the beginning. In England the girl studies exactly what she was ever wanted – fashion stylistics. According to her the advantages of this college are first of all the variety of disciplines that are studied there and the possibility for real practice. The students at fashion study the specifics of the accessories, the make-up and the hair cut, the textile, the jewels and the styling as a whole.

During the second year of her stay in London Kalina Blajeva moves in the prestigious university “Kingston”. There she continues to extend her professional abilities and to enrich her experience in the fashion. Her real practice as a stylist Kalina perfects with projects for the British magazine “I-D Magazine”.

Kalina Blajeva things that the fashion in London is some steps forward in the future and forward the fashion tendencies in comparison with Bulgaria. She makes an interesting contestation: “If here are fashion the more kitsch tendencies, imposed by “Roberto Cavalli” and “Versace”, in England are leading the clean line and the strongest toilets of designers like Martin Margiela and John Galliano”. Kalina likes very much the style of the London designers, as this of Yogi Yamamoto. This is provoked by their ability to unify the conceptual and the commercial and to create a perfect design. Kalina defines the fashion as something individual that doesn’t depend only on the nationality and on the culture. For her good examples for making of a high aesthetical fashion taste give the Englishmen who from their early childhood have a strict discipline and they are very informed in this area. “In London you are roundabout from everywhere by fashion”, shares Kalina Blajeva. According to her the most important qualities that have to make one young designer noticeable in London are diligence, self discipline and talent.

The fashion for the young designer is an amusement that has to happen in natural way. She accentuates at the importance of every one detail from the whole image of the model and she prefers the conceptual fashion.

Although her categorical wish to continue to develop in the British capital, Kalina demonstrates her creative potential in Bulgaria. Recently she made the toilet of the actress Elena Koleva, with which she appeared at this year’s theatrical awards “Askeer”.
