Rome-Sofia
For a second year, The Day of the Bulgarian Fashion in Rome was carried out as a part of the initiative Sofia Greets Rome. The final evening, dedicated to Bulgarian fashion design was organized by Mrs. Jana Yakovleva, chairwoman of the Bulgarian-Italian cultural association Phoenix and Prof. Lubomir Stoykov – chairman of the Academy for fashion. This project is an immense result, born from the common efforts of Sofia Municipality and Rome Municipality for Bulgarian-Italian cultural exchange and cooperation.

Some of the most famous and successful Bulgarian fashion houses and designers presented their newest collections. Albena Alexandrova – Roshavata garga, Jana Jekova, Milka Alexandrova – Buchi, Tania Ivanova, Maria Bogdanova as well as fashion companies Kwiat and Miró revealed their concepts about style and femininity. They are winners of the highest Bulgarian fashion award – The Golden Needle of the Academy for Fashion. Both Tania Ivanova and Maria Bogdanova are very promising and creative young designers. The final of the cultural celebrations and fashion shows coincided with the Feast of Rome. A very special part of the event was the presentation of the new book of Prof. Lubomir Stoykov – chairman of the Academy for Fashion and a famous university lecturer, called World Fashion. Part Three: Italy. It is already a cultural and aesthetical fact.

During the premiere of the book in the gardens of Castel Sant’ Angelo, Mr. Umberto Croppi – Deputy Mayor of Rome Municipality, Mrs. Rosanna Vano – president of Invitation for Culture Foundation, H. E. Atanas Mladenov – Ambassador of Bulgaria to Italy and Mrs. Mariana Boyadjieva – the Consul of Republic of Bulgaria to Rome shared their opinion about the wonderful book of Prof. Lubomir Stoykov.
In his speech H.E. Atanas Mladenov marked that thanks to Bulgarian fashion, Bulgarian cultural holidays in Rome have a very praiseworthy final and that the book of Prof. Lubomir Stoykov is a significant cultural and social fact in the year, when we celebrate 130 jubilee of the establishing of the diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Italy. Prof. Stoykov expressed his gratitude for the high appraisal and the positive comments about his new book and in short he pointed the main factors for the existence of the Italian fashion as wonder and phenomenon. A special multimedia presentation reproduced the most important visual moments from the work of the professor. He profoundly analyses and gives an interpretation to the achievements of such iconic names in Italian fashion design as Armani and Valentino, Dolce and Gabbana and Roberto Cavalli, Miuccia Prada and Anna Molinari. He didn’t omit to examine the work of eternal stylists as Elsa Schiaparelli, Franco Moschino, Emilio Pucci, Gianfranco Ferre among others. The book also contains authentic interviews with Santo Versace and Giovanna Farreagamo, Luciano Benetton and Nino Cerruti.

Thousands of Italian guests, journalists and fashion specialists, as well as many Bulgarians, showed their respect and attended the final day of Bulgarian culture in Rome which ended with the newest collections of our designers. They applauded the collections of Albena Alexandrova – Roshavata garga, Jana Jekova, Milka Alexandrova – Buchi, the fashion companies Kwiat and Miró as well as young and talented designers Tania Ivanova and Maria Bogdanova.
A curious fact was the incarnation of Tania Ivanova as leading model in Miró’s fashion show as well as the participation of Irina Vladimirova – a PR-specialist as model in Jana Jekova’s fashion show. In following articles we will reveal curious details about this spectacular show abroad – The Day of Bulgarian fashion in Rome.
